Juneau Photographer: The Best Photoshoot Locations

This article and images were contributed by Juneau Photographer Christine Johnson Photography.

Imagine the pristine beauty of Alaska: towering mountains blanketed in snow, crisp air that invigorates the soul, and landscapes that take your breath away. That’s the Juneau I know and love, where every turn presents an opportunity for an unforgettable adventure. In today’s post, let’s specifically discuss the best photoshoot location in Juneau, Alaska.

As a family, newborn, and maternity photographer based in this stunning city, I’ve had the privilege of capturing the essence of Juneau’s natural wonders through my lens. But let me tell you, it’s not just about the picture-perfect scenery. It’s about finding those hidden gems that truly showcase the magic of this place.

Juneau Photographer’s Favorite Photoshoot Locations

Brotherhood Bridge

One of my absolute favorite Juneau photoshoot locations to photograph families is around Brotherhood Bridge. Sure, it offers a postcard-worthy view of the majestic Mendenhall Glacier. However, what really sets it apart is its versatility. With just a short stroll, you can find yourself surrounded by diverse landscapes: from serene beaches to lush mossy forests, breathtaking mountain ranges, and fields of wildflowers nestled beneath snow-capped peaks. And let’s not forget the playful charm of the bridge itself. Here families can interact and make memories in a unique way.

Skaters Cabin and The Mendenhall Glacier

Another gem in Juneau’s crown is Skaters Cabin and the Mendenhall Glacier area. Here you’re treated to jaw-dropping views of the glacier, Nugget Falls, and snow-capped mountains. The views from this Juneau photoshoot location will leave you speechless. But what I love most about this spot as a Juneau photographer is the variety it offers. Within a short distance, you can capture a multitude of natural landscapes. We’ll go from winding forest trails to tranquil streams and majestic Sitka spruce trees bathed in golden sunlight.

Mendenhall Wetlands

And then there’s the often-overlooked Mendenhall Wetlands, a hidden oasis that provides a stunning backdrop of the mountains lining the Channel. While it may lack the towering trees of other locations, its vast open space and tall grass offer a unique setting for family photos. Plus, you never know when an Alaska Airlines plane might make a surprise appearance, adding a touch of whimsy to this Juneau photoshoot location.

The Heart of Juneau

But beyond the breathtaking landscapes, what truly sets Juneau apart is its sense of community and the warmth of its people. As a Juneau photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing the love and connection between families as they explore this beautiful corner of the world together. Whether we’re hiking through the woods, splashing in the waves, or simply basking in the glow of a stunning sunset, every session is an opportunity to create memories that will last a lifetime.

In the end, it’s not just about the photos; it’s about the experiences shared and the connections made along the way. And as a photographer, there’s nothing more rewarding than being entrusted with capturing the love, laughter, and genuine moments that make each family unique.
